The Class

Learn how to paint waves with watercolour. Danielle will demonstrate various strokes to create the feeling of movement and you will learn how to paint realistic sea foam and spray from the waves in motion.

Danielle will use a step-by-step approach breaking down the various components of a wave. She will walk you through the entire process of her painting. Learn how to really “see” small variations in values and colours. The class will be jam packed with hints, tips, and insights from her studio practices to painting techniques on achieving realism in watercolour.

For two hours each week (over ZOOM), you will receive advice on the necessary steps. All participants will then paint along to apply the demonstrated techniques that can be reapplied to different photos of waves. The focus will be on interactive and individualized instruction, and you will be encouraged to ask questions throughout.

Between classes, you may send photos of either in-progress or completed paintings to Danielle for a private critique or advice to take your painting to the next stage.  Each week, you will have a bit of “homework”.

If you cannot attend any of the live classes, don’t worry.  All the presentations and recordings will be available to you after each class.  You will have lifetime access on YouTube.

You will be painting at least two (2) different waves during this 6-week class. Participants are more than welcome to paint from their own photos.

Some painting experience is necessary.
