In this workshop you will:
- explore your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes through an analysis of several of your past paintings* in order to identify those elements that will help define your personal style.
- create finished paintings through guided exercises to apply the elements and principals of a balanced composition.
- learn to paint fluidly and have confidence in your intuition. To do this, speed-painting exercises leading to a finished painting will be proposed.
- paint using various techniques such as wet-on-wet, layering with washes, and having fun with different tools.
- explore how to make good colour choices and work with a limited palette.
- practice alternating between positive and negative shapes.
- plan your paintings ahead of time through value sketches.
- creatively interpret a subject.
- watch many demonstrations and receive a lot of individual attention.
*If you are new to watercolour and don’t have several past paintings, please bring images of several paintings by different watercolorists, including images of paintings that you like and/or dislike.
